RETRO DELUXE LAUNCHES KICKSTARTER CAMPAIGN!
Retro Deluxe recently launched their first Kickstarter Campaign to help offset the costs of recording our next album. Recording and releasing a world class album is not cheap and we wish to avoid cutting corners on this once in a lifetime opportunity. We want to compensate everyone involved with our project promptly and fairly and create a win-win feel good scenario for you as well. We will use your donations wisely to pay for travel expenses, studio and engineering costs, design services, production and marketing expenses. These things add up fast and your generous donations can make a world of difference. Thanks in advance for your consideration!
RETRO DELUXE TO RECORD AT THE HISTORIC CASH CABIN!
Imagine having the opportunity to record an all-new original album with your band mates in a historic recording studio where some of the all-time great musicians and entertainers have recorded. Well, that opportunity has arrived and we are beyond ecstatic about recording our new album at Cash Cabin Studios with a Grammy Award Winning Engineer/Producer.

That's right, members of Retro Deluxe including Bobby Joe Owens (Songwriter & Lead Vocalist), Marty MacMillan (Pedal Steel, Mandolin, Electric & Acoustic Guitars), Mike Mautino (Drums), Carl Cimino (Keyboards), Bruce Elliott (Electric & Acoustic Guitars) and Jason Roe (Standup & Electric Bass, Banjo) will be traveling from Bowie, MD to Hendersonville, TN in May of this year. The yet to be named New Album will include a minimum of 12 new original songs ranging from Classic Country, Outlaw Country, Rockabilly, Bluegrass and Americana with a targeted release of September/October 2013.
"Retro Deluxe is simply put, one of the best Rockabilly Blues Bands out there today" John Vermilyea (Blues Underground Network)
"Others have called Bobby Joe Owens garrulous, pugnacious, legendary, boozy, (and) seductive. They left out one thing. Fun!" L.H. O'Connor (Roothog Radio)
For those of you not too familiar with Retro Deluxe and Bobby Joe Owens, please check out our websites or just Google us to discover more information, read reviews and/or listen to our music. We like to play and create fun, inspired, energetic and vintage sounding music with a new twist. Most of our music will sound familiar, but yet it may sound totally different. We play and perform with heart and soul, not bells and whistles and we do it for the love, not for the love of money. We love our friends and supporters like family because in the end, that's all you have left.
Thanks for your love and continued support!
Sincerely,
Bobby Joe Owens
BLUES REVUE MAGAZINE REVIEW
We are very pleased to share a very nice review of our Watermelon Tea CD by Tom Hyslop of Blues Revue Magazine. The following review can be found in the Blues Bites section on Page 70 of the May/June 2011 Edition of Blues Revue Magazine:
"On Watermelon Tea, singer Bobby Joe Owens impressively manages to sound intense and devil-may-care, simultaneously; ace guitarist Zach Sweeney has tones from haunting to stinkin' and styles from smooth to savage; and the band has enough shambolic energy to suggest it will conquer the known universe, if only it doesn't fly apart first. Producer Jimbo Mathus, who also played drums, drew an incredible bunch of performances out of Retro Deluxe; give him and Engineer Justin Showah credit for capturing the proceedings in a spacious, live mix. You'll have to decide whether you prefer the Memphis-to-Chicago energy of the band's raw, stomping shuffles, their tough slow blues, the rootsy rockers and crazed boogies, or the fuzzed-out, dirty funk of "Blues Infusion." This has got to be one of the coolest records in years." Tom Hyslop, Blues Revue Magazine
Thanks again Tom for the nice review!
